Photo by RODNAE Productions on Pexels.com I've been playing at being a writer for nine years now, almost a decade. It came as something of a shock when I calculated the time since I first put fingers to keyboard, because I often feel like a beginner. To be fair, the first four years were a … Continue reading Eight things I wish I’d known when I started writing

Congratulations to the delightful @cassiehamerwriter on the launch of her latest novel, ‘The Truth About Faking It’. A brilliant afternoon celebration with so many lovely writer friends. This novel draws on Cassie’s experience as a TV journalist, and promises to be laugh-out-loud hilarious. @harlequinaus 🤩🥂❤️#booklaunch #thetruthaboutfakingit #aussiebookstagram #bookstagram #writersofinstagram
I began reading ‘You Need To Know’, the latest from @nicmoriarty, in ebook form but when I spied the paperback in my local library switched. Did you know that authors don’t earn any money from e-book lending as opposed to actual books? The ASA is lobbying to change this antiquated rule, but until that happens I’m favouring this sort of borrowing. I’m loving this fast-paced domestic thriller and can’t wait to chase it with ‘The Good Teacher’ by @petronella_mc. 🔥📚#libraryreads #bookstagram #lendingrights
Carving out a bit of writing time ahead of a busy Saturday. I don’t usually write in bed but I thought I’d try to harness that early morning creativity. Have a good weekend, everyone! #earlymorningwriting #writinginbed #newlaptop #writersofinstagram
Farewell to this secluded paradise in Kangaroo Valley. A rare extended family get together complete with resident chooks, a posse of wombats and unspoilt rainforest. Delicious food, great company, and hardly any leeches. #familygathering #ihateleeches #kangaroovalley
Time out with family in beautiful Kangaroo Valley. #familytime #kangaroovalley #rainforest #howstheserenity
A slightly early happy hour, but it is my birthday and a sneaky afternoon G&T is surely acceptable. I’m dipping into the wonderful IF YOU’RE HAPPY by @fionarrobertson while relaxing in the Blue Mountains. ‘Happy Hour’, a quiet story about an elderly man and his classical music radio station is one of my favourites. #earlyhappyhour #shortstorycollection #ifyourehappy #lowkeybirthday
